I thought I should let you know about some recent medical issues I've been dealing with. About half a year ago I started having some back pain. Since we had just moved, I assumed I strained my back. I finally sought medical assistance. An X-ray showed a spine in good shape. Nonetheless, they decided to do an MRI to rule out anything exotic. And they found something exotic. There are small nodules along my spine, mostly in the lower back, extending to the neck, but not into the brain.
To get a clean, definitive diagnosis to guide treatment, a surgical biopsy was performed on Friday. The operation went well, I awoke able to wiggle my toes, and I am now home after 3 nights in the hospital.
The pathology report is not in yet; the sample may be sent to 2 labs. I'm told that since this many nodules developed while I am basically in great shape bodes well. Fortunately, we are in a city with many specialists, and my doctors are fully expecting to send me to a number of them (and I have independent contacts).
