David Band's Circulars

Stable—June 22, 2004

I've had a few MRIs over the past few months since I last imposed on everyone with my health news, and there has been no change in the size of the tumors. I've been off the Temodar for half-a-year, and my blood count has settled down to a slightly anemic level-lower than normal but not worrisome. More significantly, my energy level has been fine (at least for a 47 year old!).

I have occasional tingling in my back and numbness in the extremities-nothing debilitating-but since the tumors haven't changed, the doctors are attributing it to swelling resulting from the radiation. Medicine often has catch-alls: if a phenomenon can't be pinned down by tests or some other positive proof, it is attributed to some common syndrome. Other aches and pains are attributed to age.
