David Band's Circulars

Home From Operation—August 25, 2005

On Tuesday they decided to move someone into my room, so it was time to go home! I have been quite functional (more so than my internet connection, which is why you haven't heard from me), with much less muscle pain than expected. I go in tomorrow to have my staples removed (presumably by staple-removers that are little more costly than what you would buy at Office Depot); undoubtedly they will test me for the nth time whether I can tell whether my big toe is up or down, etc. It is getting a bit tedious to have every nurse and doctor perform the same tests every few hours.

I have a bit of weakness in my right hand, which is expected, and is predicted to disappear in a week or two. I find that I am able to type.

This operation has been much harder on my family than on me (I was under when they did all the outrageous things to my body!), and while I appreciate all the expressions of support, my family has been particularly comforted and supported by all the support.
